Michael Hoffmann MD, PhD is renowned for his expertise in brain health. He has published 5 books, with a particular emphasis on how to evaluate the human mind, how it evolved and how to maintain lifelong brain fitness. He completed his initial medical degree, MBBch, at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa with subsequent neurology training in South Africa. Thereafter he underwent fellowship training in stroke and cerebrovascular diseases at Columbia University, New York followed by two senior doctorates in cerebrovascular disease (MD) and behavioral medicine (PhD). He is currently a professor of neurology at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, USA and cognitive neurologist and board member at the Roskamp Neuroscience Institute, Sarasota Florida. He was the founding director of three Florida based stroke centers at Tampa General Hospital/University of South Florida, James A Haley VA Hospital, Tampa and Orlando VA Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, fellow of the American Heart Association and affiliated with the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners, the Medical Education Speakers Network (www.speakersnetwork.com) and the Vagal Nerve Society. His clinical activities and research have focused on stroke, behavioral neurology, traumatic brain injury, war related illnesses and neuro-archeology.
